ALOHA, Ore. – An Aloha man robbed at knifepoint came away with one of the suspects’ shoes after he was dragged about 100 yards by the getaway vehicle Thursday night.
The robbery occurred at about 7 p.m. in the 15500 block of Southwest Donna Court in Aloha.
The victim, Ahmed, was selling a man an iPhone 7+ through OfferUp, an online sales platform. Ahmed asked the man to meet him at his home, a decision Ahmed said he won't make again.
"Do it in a public place, do it where there are cameras," he said. "Never be alone because you don't know how many people there are or what they're capable of."
The buyer showed up with another man, and one of them took out a knife and robbed Ahmed, who attempted to get the phone back. Ahmed hung on to one of the men as the getaway vehicle dragged him about 100 yards. While being dragged, Ahmed took a shoe (pictured) off one of the men.
"He dropped the blade in his lap and he put the car into gear so my first reaction is the passenger's feet are hanging out, he doesn't have a seatbelt on, let me grab him, pull him out and I can put one down and if the driver comes back I can take on the other one," he said.
Ahmed ended up with scrapes and cuts on his legs, hands and head. He admits that Thursday night's situation could have ended much worse.
"Either I could have been run over, probably even died," Ahmed said.
However, Ahmed's actions may help investigators determine one of the suspects.
"We'll be able to process [the shoe] for DNA evidence," said Detective Robert Rookhuyzen with the Washington County Sheriff's Office. "A shoe is a good source of DNA."
The suspects left Donna Court toward Southwest Farmington Road. They were in a tan 2003-2004 BMW X5 with no license plates.
The two suspects were described as:
- A 5-foot-4, 130-pound Hispanic man in his early 20s, wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
- A 140, pound Hispanic man in his late 20s, with a mustache, dark blue jeans, and a black baseball hat.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 503-629-0111.
