Man rapes, kidnaps woman he offered ride to, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. – A 23-year-old man is accused of kidnapping and raping a woman who he offered a ride to early Thursday morning in Northeast Portland.

Portland police say the woman was walking home in heavy rain near Northeast 82nd Avenue and Broadway when a man, who officers later identified as Dominique R. Gonzales, offered to drive her home. The woman told police the suspect sexually assaulted her after she got in the car.

The woman was eventually able to get out of the car in the 3200 block of Northeast Rocky Butte Road. She then called 911 at 4:22 a.m. and provided information about the perpetrator’s appearance and his vehicle.

Officers located the described vehicle in the 7600 block of North Olin Avenue and determined it belonged to Gonzales.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of first-degree rape and kidnapping. His vehicle was also seized.
