Man breaks into NE Portland home, barricades himself inside, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. – A man was arrested Thursday night after he broke into a Northeast Portland home and barricaded himself in a bathroom, police said.

At 6:43 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 4000 block of Northeast Wistaria Drive. Residents told officers they didn’t know the man, later identified as 29-year-old Aaron Lavell Reed-Jones. They thought Reed-Jones may have got into the house through an open garage door.

Officers communicated with Reed-Jones and convinced him to come out of the bathroom. Reed-Jones was showing signs of paranoia and confusion while talking to officers but surrendered without incident, according to Portland police.

He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of burglary.
