Man arrested for torching 7-Eleven in N. Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man was arrested after allegedly setting a series of fires early Monday morning at a North Portland 7-Eleven Store.

Kevin Mitchell Jr., 25, was taken into custody by the Portland police and the Portland Fire & Rescue Bureau arson squad. He was accused of first-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief.

The gas station of the store remained open but the store was closed due to heavy damage to contents.

There were people in the store when the fires were set but no one was injured.
