Man arrested for starting seven fires in Lebanon

LEBANON, Ore. -- A man suspected of starting seven fires in Lebanon from late July to late August was arrested by Linn County police.

Kristian Ray Lee, 19, who lives in Lebanon about half a mile from where all seven fires started, confessed to starting five of the fires. He faces multiple charges, including four counts of first-degree arson.

The fires, which occurred between July 30 and Aug. 28, were all started in the same location, along a ditch line in the 37000 block of Rock Hill Drive. The largest area burnt was about three quarters of an acre.

Following the fifth fire, on Aug. 16, the Lebanon Fire Department set up cameras in the area. Twelve days later, on Aug. 28, the sixth and seventh fires were started within minutes of each other and the cameras recorded images of the suspect, later identified as Lee.

Lee had already turned himself into the Linn County Jail for unrelated charges on Aug. 29. He was interviewed by detectives and arrested for his alleged role in starting the fires.
