Gang associate arrested for shooting wife in 2015, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland police gang team on Wednesday arrested a man wanted for allegedly shooting his wife.

Deone Lee Sims, 37, is charged with attempted murder. Police say Sims is a known gang associate.

Sims shot his wife on Nov. 8, 2015 during a fight inside a home in the 6600 block of Southeast 72nd Avenue, police said.

Sims’ wife survived the shooting.

Sims was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by police early Wednesday morning. He initially refused to get out of the vehicle, but was eventually taken into custody.
