PORTLAND – One of two people injured in a hit-and-run DUII crash in Southeast Portland early Sunday has died, police said.
Stephen Alan Person, 28, was taken after the crash to a Portland hospital, where he died Monday night, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
Just after 2 a.m., 26-year-old Nathan Wisbeck crashed his truck into a Toyota Corolla driven by 25-year-old Sapearya Sao at Southeast 12th Avenue and Southeast Morrison Street., Simpson said. Wisbeck then fled the scene.
A passenger in Sao's car called police as they followed Wisbeck for several blocks, Simpson said.
Wisbeck then blew through stop sign at Southeast 20th Avenue and hit the passenger side of a minivan driven by 28-year-old Sarah Anderson, causing the van to roll onto the driver's side and crash into a building, Simpson said.
Person was a passenger in Anderson's vehicle. Both were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Anderson had traumatic but non-life-threatening injuries.
Wisbeck was taken to the hospital, treated and released. He was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on assault, felony DUII, hit-and-run, and reckless driving charges. Additional charges were possible.
