U.S. safety experts use tough new powers to ban dangerous cribs.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission banned the manufacture and sale of side-drop cribs on Wednesday saying too many children have died or been injured from them.
“This new mandatory standard, the strongest in the world, will ensure that new cribs coming onto the market will provide safe haven for babies and their families,” stated Nancy Cowles, Executive Director of Kids In Danger.

“We applaud CPSC for their hard work and tenacity in developing and adopting this landmark rule.”
Thirty-two infants have died and thousands have been injured in the past decade according to the C.P.S.C.
New powers given the consumer agency last year allowed them to pass these new standards which have basically led to an all out ban of side-drop cribs in the United States.
