PORTLAND - The new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is finally up and running with its new website and the first industry it’s going after are credit card companies.

“There's a lot of great information out there as well as this new searchable database for credit card complaints, you can find out what other people are complaining about as well as submit a complaint yourself,”  Julie Titus with the Oregon State Public Interest Group said.

On its first day, more than 100 complaints about credit card companies were filed. It took two years for congress to create the CFPB and another year to get the web site up and running. Titus said,

“By July 19th, the web site should have information on mortgage companies, private student loans, checking and savings accounts and more.”

Consumers can also file a complaint or search for past complaints on the Consumer Finance web site.
