VANCOUVER – A group of petitioners in Vancouver is working to prohibit city resources from being used to extend TriMet’s MAX line from Portland to Vancouver as part of the Columbia River Crossing project, the Vancouver Columbian reports.
In June, the Vancouver City Council endorsed a sales tax increase to help pay for light rail.
Some lawmakers in Washington, including Republican Sen. Don Benton of Vancouver, say the state should reconsider whether the bridge project should include a light rail line.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee says that light rail is non-negotiable.
