CLATSKANIE, Ore. -- The owner of a Clatskanie coffee shop who said she was flashed dozens of times by the mayor's husband, is suing the mayor, her husband, the city and the city manager for defamation.
In the lawsuit, the woman claimed they spread rumors about her having an affair with the mayor's husband, Ray Pohl. She said the rumors damaged her reputation, her business and caused her emotional distress.
In April, Pohl pleaded guilty to two counts of public indecency and admitted he exposed himself to the woman. He was initially arrested on 30 counts of public indecency, but 28 counts were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
According to the lawsuit, after Pohl's arrest in Sept. 2015, he told people he had a sexual affair with the woman. The suit claims Pohl, Mayor Diane Pohl and City Manager Greg Hinkelman spread the rumor to other city workers and people in the community. It alleges Mayor Pohl even sent an email to city employees telling them not to support the woman's coffee shop.
She is suing for $350,000.
A request to Mayor Pohl and the city for comment on the lawsuit has not been returned.
