ALBANY, Ore. (AP) -- Weyerhaeuser Co. is closing its Albany plant and laying off about 70 workers.

State officials said Wednesday the wood products giant based in Federal Way, Wash., notified them Tuesday it was closing its engineered wood products facility in Albany.

Weyerhaeuser said it would run limited operations over the next two weeks to fill existing customer orders.

Workers were told they would receive their regular pay through Oct. 30, along with eligibility for severance pay and other benefits.

A few employees to remain after that date to help close the plant.
