Are you optimistic that Portland’s economy will make a comeback in 2011?
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The business publication "Kiplinger" has picked Portland as one of the "Comeback Cities" for 2011.
The magazine cited Portland's growth in the software industry and in "clean technology," from electric vehicles to wind power.
Kiplinger's predicted employment in Portland to grow more than 3 percent this year.
The 10 other comeback cities include Seattle, Nashville, Orlando, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Flint, Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Jose
"The Portland Development Commission has awarded approximately $4.4 million in loans and grants to businesses, with the aim of retaining or creating about 1,000 jobs," the report said.
