PORTLAND -- This years' Portland Auto Show show is another sign the economy is on the mend.

The Oregon Convention Center is now the largest showroom on the west coast. It's filled with new styles, new technology and one of a kind vehicles, all designed to put you in the drivers seat.

This is the biggest show for the metro auto dealers.

Twenty seven car makers and 37 brands are on display. This is the 105th annual year for the show. It started in 1909 when the Model T was in vogue.

This year, electric and new technology are the two focal points. BMW is introducing its i3 all electric car. A course is set up for test drives.

There are several vehicle for those driven by passion. Toyota has what are called lifestyle vehicles on the floor. One is the Toyota Tri-athlete. It comes with a shower, a built in drier, even a blender for smoothies.

Chrysler is showcasing the new 200. It's a mid-sized entry with some unusual technology. It doesn't have a shift gear. It's an electronic dial for park, neutral, reverse and drive. It's also a forerunner of what's to come down the road according to Kathy Graham, spokesperson for Chrysler.

"We've got more than 60 safety and security features, things like forward collision warning," said Graham. "It will actually bring the car to a full stop to avoid a collision."

And the auto show is the only place to see the new 2015 Ford Mustang. It's the only one on the West Coast.

The Portland Auto Show runs Feb. 6 to Feb. 9. Hours are 10am to 10pm. Sunday 10am to 7pm.
