PORTLAND – More than 3,000 patients could potentially have their data breached, due to a storage error made by Oregon Health & Science University, officials said.
The data was stored on Google's "cloud" computing system. It was password-protected, but OHSU does not have a contract with Google to store information so it could have been used for promotional and other purposes, authorities explained.
The possible data breach affects patients admitted between January 2011, and July 3, 2013.
The information has since been removed from the cloud.
