PORTLAND -- Mattress World is voluntarily closing two of its locations in the Portland metro area.
Sherri Hiner, president and pitchwoman of Mattress World Inc., cited high rent as the reason for closing the company's locations near Portland International Airport on Cascades Parkway. and in Tualatin on SW Nyberg Street.
No employees will lose their jobs after the closures, Hiner said.
"Our motto is: Our hard-to-find locations will save you money, and these locations just didn't fit that motto," Hiner told KGW News.
She said that while the stores were beautiful, locations were great, and landlords were friendly, the rent was simply more than she wanted to pay.
The move brings the number of Mattress World stores from 12 to 10.
Hiner noted that she may add more stores in the future, and she plans to look in "harder-to-find" locations.
