PORTLAND -- If you plan to fire up the grill this Memorial day weekend, it's a pretty good bet those hot dogs or hamburgers will be wrapped in a Franz Bakery bun.
The ovens were working non-stop at all nine Franz bakeries throughout the Northwest.
More than one million hot dog and hamburger buns roll off the lines each day. And it will take just 12 hours or less to get the buns from oven to your favorite grocery store shelves.
"The product that we eat in Portland, Oregon say, tomorrow morning, it's the same product they're eating in Redding, California tomorrow morning," said Jim Kennison, General Manager of the Franz Bakery in Portland.
Weather is also very important in planning for holidays. The company checks the forecast ten to fifteen days out. It can play a huge roll for the bottom line.
