ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — Walmart says it plans to build store in Albany, putting an end to years of speculation over whether the retail giant would expand to the city.
A Walmart spokeswoman said the 187,000-square-foot store will provide between 300 and 350 jobs paying an average of $10 per hour, along with health care benefits.
The Albany store will include a full-service grocery department.
Construction is expected to take about a year after the company completes planning with the city.
Walmart applied to build a store in Albany in 2004 but traffic issues prevented the project.
