HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Harrisburg's daily newspaper, The Patriot-News, says it will publish on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays starting Jan. 2.
Tuesday's announcement follows last month's disclosure that The Patriot-News and the Post-Standard of Syracuse, N.Y., are switching to a three-per-week publication schedule as their corporate owner shifts away from daily printed papers. Both are owned by Advance Publications Inc.
The publisher of The Patriot-News says there will be an expansion of around-the-clock news coverage online. He says jobs are likely to be reduced but the number of editorial content producers should remain about the same.
Newspapers will continue to be home-delivered and will also be available on newsstands.
The Patriot-News and PennLive.com are merging into a new company, PA Media Group, which plans to offer larger newspapers on the three days it publishes.
