Do you agree with the 18-year sentence for Parrish Bennette's murder trial?
PORTLAND – A Portland teenage murder suspect was charged with assaulting a deputy at the Multnomah County jail in the Justice Center.
Prosecutors added assaulting a sheriff's deputy and resisting arrest to the list of charges faced by 17-year-old Parrish Bennette, who is awaiting a February trial for murder.
The officer suffered minor injuries Sunday night, a spokesperson said.
Prosecutors believe Bennette shot Yashanee Vaughn twice at his home and covered up the crime scene in 2011, where her blood showed up in forensic testing.
A gun used in the crime was later handed off to Bennette's friends, police believe.
Vaughn’s body was found months later hidden on Rocky Butte.
