SHERIDAN, Ore. – A Yamhill reserve police officer and former deputy was arrested Saturday morning for critically assaulting his girlfriend’s 4-year-old son.

On Dec. 31, deputies responded to 34-year-old Michael Shane Abo’s home regarding an injured 4-year-old boy. The boy was then immediately flown by helicopter to Oregon Health & Science University where he remains in critical condition.

On Saturday, deputies arrested Abo at his home at 420 NE Evan Street on two counts of assault and two counts of criminal mistreatment. His bail was set at $1 million.
