CANYONVILLE, Ore. – A Eugene man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate 5 near Canyonville early Sunday morning, police said.

At around 4:30 a.m., 26-year-old Joshua Davis was driving his SUV the wrong direction in the southbound lanes of the interstate when he slammed head-on into a Kia sedan driven by 44-year-old Victor Anderson of Oakland, Ore., said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Davis was taken in an ambulance to a Roseburg hospital and was arrested after his release Thursday morning, Hastings said.

He was booked into the Douglas County Jail on charges of manslaughter, DUII and reckless endangerment.
