GRANDE RONDE -- A three-car accident with one fatality closed Oregon 18 west of Grande Ronde for most of Sunday afternoon.

One lane was reopened about 4:30 p.m. and all lanes about 5:15 p.m.

The crash remained under investigation into Sunday evening. The name of the dead person was not released pending notification of relatives.

Oregon State Police Trooper Jesse Orosco said a 2001 Chevy Cavalier driven by the 64-year-old woman who died was eastbound on 18. The woman crossed the centerline for an unknown reason and struck the driver side of a westbound 2005 Fleetwood motor home towing a Chevy Cavalier.

The car of the deceased came to rest in the westbound lane. The woman was belted.

The Chevy behind the RV came off the hitch and came to rest blocking a driveway. The RV came to rest in the westbound lane.

The motor home's driver, John Stein Jr, 72, and his wife Mary Stein, 69, from Seeley Lake, Mont., were not hurt.

About 100 gallons of fuel from the RV spilled onto the highway.
