WOODLAND, Wash. – A Woodland principal is under investigation after allegedly abusing a mentally disabled child.
Officials are investigating Woodland Primary School Principal Mark Edward Houk after receiving a report that he may have physically abused a mentally disabled 3rd grade student on multiple occasions at school.
According to the report, Houk allegedly used excessive force to restrain the child, said Chief Brad Gillaspie of Woodland police.
The Woodland Superintendent reported Houk for the alleged abuse after being informed of the complaint by school staff.
Houk was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The school district also requested an internal investigation into the incident. No criminal charges have been filed yet.
