GLADSTONE, Ore. – A woman in Gladstone who was making chicken and rice for dinner Thursday night said she found the head of a snake in a bag of green beans.
Misty Moser poured the contents from an already half-eaten bag of frozen Kroger green beans into a pan while she cooked dinner for her 6-year-old daughter Kailyn.
Moser said she noticed one of the beans looked odd, and after the frozen vegetables started to thaw out, she spotted the head.
It was already hard to get her daughter to eat her vegetables, Moser said, but now Kailyn said she’ll never eat a green bean again.
Moser said she called the number on the back of the bag, which she bought at the Fred Meyer in Oak Grove, and a customer service representative offered her a $15 coupon. Moser said she didn't feel like the store was taking her complaint seriously and contacted KGW.
On Friday, KGW spoke with Melinda Merrill, a public affairs representative with the store, who apologized to Moser for how things first went on the phone.
Merrill said the store is investigating the complaint, so it doesn't happen to another customer, and invited Moser to bring the bag and the snake head back the store to work the situation out.
KGW reporter Art Edwards contributed to this report.
