TILLAMOOK, Ore. – A woman who died in a car accident on Highway 6 near Lee’s Camp Monday morning has been identified, Oregon State Police said.

Haila Cheryl Ann Ruhl, 21, of Portland was traveling eastbound near milepost 26 when she attempted to pass two other vehicles and lost control of her car, according to an OSP statement.

Ruhl crossed the westbound lane, slammed into a guardrail, careened down a 40-foot embankment and landed upside down, police said.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and used ropes to get to the vehicle. According to police, Ruhl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said that speed was being investigated as a contributing factor to the accident.
