PORTLAND – A Northeast Portland man was charged Thursday with the murder of his wife, who was found dead inside their home early Saturday morning.
Lori Erp, 52, died from a gunshot wound in her Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood home. Her husband, 56-year-old Lloyd Erp, was jailed after being treated for a gunshot wound at a Portland hospital, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.
It all started at 5:38 a.m. Saturday, when police responded to a home in the 4200 block of Northeast Campaign Street after hearing reports of an armed suicidal man, Simpson said.
After failing to contact anyone in the home, officers left.
But two hours later, police got a 911 call from a man in the home who said he was injured and there was a gun in the house, Simpson said. Officers talked Lloyd Erp into coming out of the house and took him into custody.
Inside the home, police found Lori Erp dead from a gunshot wound, Simpson said.
Lloyd Erp was was arrested immediately after his release from the hospital Thursday.
