BATTLE GROUND, Wash. -- A 53-year-old Battle Ground woman died in a mobile home fire around 11:30 p.m. Monday, fire officials said.
The fire broke out near the Clark County Fire & Rescue station on Southwest 7th Avenue and crews arrived quickly, said Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy. Despite that, they found Penny J. Davis dead on a living room couch toward the front of the home.
It appears the fire started in the living room, he said. The Davis lived alone in the home.
The home was stuffed with what Dawdy described as "extra materials" which made it "a hard fire to fight." He recommended that people keep clean, uncluttered homes.
