PORTLAND – A woman was arrested for spitting on and pushing TriMet bus drivers Sunday, along a route in Southeast Portland, police said.

Eucharia Michelle Nwerem, 30, became unruly just after 1 p.m., near the intersection of Southeast 82nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard. Investigators said that’s when she spit on and pushed the first TriMet bus operator.

Then, when another driver was getting on the bus to relieve the first driver, Nwerem pushed him and poked him in the face, police said.

Officers arrived to find the suspect off of the bus and said she fought with them as they tried to take her into custody.

Nwerem was eventually arrested and taken to a Portland hospital for an evaluation prior to being booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

She faces several charges, including assault, disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer, attempted possession of meth and harassment.

Her arraignment was scheduled for Monday July 14.

Neither of the bus drivers required medical treatment.
