WOOD VILLAGE, Ore. -- An armed robbery suspect was disarmed by an employee at a Wood Village restaurant and then tackled and pinned by customers until officers arrived to arrest him, police said.

Officers were called just after midnight to the report of a man with a gun robbing Dotty's restaurant, at 2705 NE 238th Ave., according to Lt. Steve Alexander of the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

Responders on the way to the scene learned the suspect had been disarmed and was being detained, Alexander said.

Police arrived and took 57-year-old Gordon Peterson into custody without incident. He was jailed on robbery and weapons charges. His identity was still unknown late Tuesday morning, Alexander said.

There were no injuries and no shots were fired.
