BEND -- Brazen shoplifters rolled out of a Bend Whole Foods stores Tuesday with a wheel of gouda and two wheels of bleu cheese.
The wheels had actually been boxed for two women who stole the cheese. They put the wheels in a shopping cart in the wine section of the store and left, one stopping briefly by the checkout register.
The cheeses had an estimated value of nearly $600; the one wheel of gouda alone $300.
"It is weird. I guess it's a sad reflection on what's going on in our community right now," shopper Kelli Shipman told KTVZ TV in Bend.
Shopper Deri Frazee said the episode must be theft with a mixture of a prank, wondering who needs that much cheese.
Police hope a store video which shows the theft will lead to an arrest.
