WEST LINN, Ore. -- A West Linn man who left his home for just a few minutes ended up interrupting a burglar who was trying to steal his belongings.

Bill Gellos and his roommate, Trent Blakeslee, left their home around 5 p.m. Saturday. When they came back, they noticed a Mercedes Benz parked in the driveway.

Gellos said he thought it was a friend, but when he went to his front door, he saw someone running out of the back of his house with a blanket full of his belongings.

“I dropped what I had and chased him, tackled him,” Gellos said. “Trent came over and pounced on top. We held him until the police got here.”

West Linn police arrived just a few minutes later and arrested Ezekiel “Zeke” Kirk for burglary, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of meth.

Police said the Mercedes had been stolen from Portland within the last month.
