PORTLAND – Gun events over the weekend in Portland and Vancouver are drawing big crowds of gun supporters with many waiting in lines more than 300 feet long to get inside.
Crowds packed in to Coffee Villa in Vancouver for a meet-and-greet put together by the café’s owner, Tony Thomas. The event was organized on Facebook as an opportunity to talk about the Second Amendment.
Many of those in attendance packed heat, and Thomas wanted the event to be an opportunity to alleviate fears of what a gun looks like in public.
Thomas said he doesn’t own a gun but he supports others' rights to carry them.
“Coffee Villa is open-carry friendly, and I want people to realize that because people like us are loyal to businesses that stand behind what we believe in,” he said.
Sunday is sure to be another busy day for the gun show at the Portland Expo Center, which opens at 10 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m.
