VANCOUVER -- Rebecca Watson spent the 4th of July holiday in a Felida Park booth,  registering runners and  walkers for a special event in her  late son's name.

Jackie Cy  drowned  while  on a family vacation  in  California when he was just three years old.

Less than a year after the tragedy, Watson has  organized a fun run with all  the proceeds  going to Clark County Fire District 6.

"They are  going  to  use those funds to  purchase a new Freddie the Firetruck, which teaches children all  over the county about fire safety," said  Watson. "And  my  little  boy's  name will  be on  the side of the fire  truck."

Watson said she will  likely never feel comfortable talking about the tragedy, but she wants to thank the Felida community for  the  incredible love and support her family has received since their son's death.

More information about taking part in the Jackie Cy 5K Run on Sunday,  is posted online.
