PORTLAND -- A water main rupture flooded a Southwest Portland street Wednesday afternoon.
The burst was reported at about 2 p.m. on Southwest Vista Avenue near Southwest Laurel Street.
"An eight-inch cast iron main ruptured causing water to flow into the street and catch basins," said Portland Water Bureau spokesman Tim Hall.
Water to the broken pipe was shut down within an hour and no flood damage was reported.
Vista Avenue was closed to through traffic between Southwest Laurel Street and Southwest Elm Street while crews worked to repair the pipe.
