PORTLAND – A 15-year-old San Diego girl has been identified as the homicide victim found in Washington Park last summer.
Portland police said Sophia Cruz Rodriguez was visiting relatives in Vancouver from San Diego County, California when she was reported as a runaway. Her body was found on June 26.
Detectives arrested Mark Beebout in the case, as well as the homicide of Nikayla Powell, whose body was found in her Portland apartment in July. Powell was a volunteer who helped the homeless and had allowed Beebout to move into her apartment.
Beebout faces aggravated murder charges.
Anyone with information on Rodriguez or Mark Beebout was asked to call Detectives Molly Daul at (503) 823-0991 or Rico Beniga at (503) 823-0457.
