HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A woman who worked for nearly 10 years at the Washington County Jail was arrested for "extremely serious" sexual misconduct, said Sheriff Pat Garrett.
Jill Curry was placed on leave July 8, while investigators followed up on a tip that she had enganged in criminal activity related to her jail duties, Garrett said.
Curry was arrested Wednesday on six counts each of custodial sexual misconduct and official misconduct. She was jailed on $120,000 bail.
Details of the accusations were not made available, but Garrett said the charges are serious.
"While there's a presumption of innocence in our justice system, this employee is accused of extremely serious misconduct," he said. "If the allegations are found to be true, then this employee completely violated my trust and the public's trust and will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately."
Curry had been a civilian jail services technician since October 2004.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office was assisting with the ongoing investigation.
