Standoff suspects asked for pot, cigarettes, soda

CLATSKANIE, Ore. – After a 7-hour-long standoff with police, a wanted man and woman emerged from a Clatskanie home Saturday night.

James Bryan and his girlfriend, Carrie Hurley, spent the majority of the day Saturday barricaded in a home. During the standoff, Bryan broke windows in the home, leaned out and gestured towards police officers. 

The pair made several demands, including asking for marijuana, cigarettes and Mountain Dew soda. 

They also requested that a federal officer arrest them. 

Oregon State Police sent SWAT teams to assist with the incident. On Saturday evening, OSP officers fired tear gas into the home.

Bryan and Hurley surrendered were arrested a short time later.
