"Deputies were told the clerk went outside and was locking the front door behind her, closing for the night, when a man ran up to her and began striking her in the head with a solid object," said Sgt. Bob Ray of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. "The clerk said when she fell to the sidewalk, the man ran into the establishment and took an unspecified amount of lottery tickets and a small amount of cash."
The suspect then ran off. Deputies searched the area for hours but did not find him.
He was described as African-American, in his 30s with a medium build. He was reportedly wearing a shirt with a Nike logo on the front and wearing black warm-up pants with a white strip down the leg. He was also wearing a dark baseball cap and had a surgical mask covering his face.
