TROUTDALE, Ore. – A vigil to honor Mick, the K-9 killed in the line of duty earlier this month, will be held at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale Wednesday night.
Mick, a 2-year-old German Shepherd, died from a single bullet wound after he and his human partner, Officer Jeff Dorn, were tracking down a robbery suspect on April 16.
A recent necropsy showed Mick was in the air and just six inches away from the assailant’s AR-15 rifle when he was shot.

The vigil will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free and all ages are welcome to attend.
Organizers asked that pets be left at home.
In addition to Wednesday's vigil, a public memorial for Mick has been scheduled for May 12 at Hillsboro Stadium.
