VANCOUVER -- Three Vancouver schools were temporarily placed in lockdown after a nearby armed robbery Monday afternoon, police said.

A woman told police she was walking in the area of Southeast 131st Avenue and Mill Plain Boulevard at about 2 p.m. when she was approached and robbed by a man with a gun, said spokeswoman Kim Kapp of the Vancouver Police Department.

While police were looking for the suspect, Mountain View High School, Wy'east Middle School and Riverview Elementary School were placed in lockdown.

The lockdown was lifted just after 2:30 p.m. Police still had not found the suspect.
