PORTLAND – The Rose City’s cycling community got a glowing review from the U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker when she stopped by Friday.
Pritzker was touring the country to speak with business leaders about growing their companies.
During her Portland stop, she toured Nike and chatted with people from Columbia Sportswear and Schnitzer Steel.
Pritzker also met up with Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer to check out the United Bicycle Institute, where she said Portland is a model for cycling in other cities.
“Your commitment to the cycling community,” she said, “is rather unique, but being adopted in a lot of other cities.”
Blumenauer gave her a pewter bike pin to commemorate her visit.
