SHERWOOD, Ore. -- A piece of a dock that washed ashore in Oregon in summer of 2012, months after the deadly 2011 tsunami in Japan, is moving back to Newport.

The dock has been stored at Axis Crane in Sherwood, since crews scrapped and removed it in several pieces last summer.

The heavy load was to initially force the closure of the Yaquina Bay Bridge for a short time Wednesday, but the piece was too massive to make its way across. Crews rerouted the wide load to an area north of the bridge.

The dock will be on display at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in March.
