PORTLAND -- A valet at one of Portland's most popular hotels exchanged blows with an attempted carjacking suspect on Friday.
The valet at "The Nines" was taking a customer's car from the hotel to the valet parking lot when the suspect approached the driver's side door and told the valet to get out, according to police.
The suspect then punched the valet in the head -- but the valet retaliated, opening the driver's door, knocking the suspect backwards, and punching the suspect, said Sgt. Pete Simpson.
The valet wasn't injured in the incident.
The suspect fled on foot northbound on Broadway and was not located. He's described as a light-skinned, possibly Hispanic man wearing a white or light gray T-shirt.
Anyone with information was asked to contact robbery detectives at 503-823-0400.
