Twenty years ago this week, the very first text message was sent to a telephone.
On Dec. 3, 1992, British engineer Neil Papworth transmitted the greeting from his work computer in Newbury, Berkshire the mobile phone of Vodafone executive Richard Jarvis.
The greeting simply said: Merry Christmas.
