SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Marion County authorities have known the identity of a killing victim for about six months but withheld the information to avoid compromising an investigation that led to the arrest of the victim's husband.
The Salem Statesman Journal reports that 42-year-old Gustavo Villanueva Gutierrez was driving a semitrailer when Texas authorities pulled him over Monday in Laredo, Texas.
Marion County authorities had alerted the Texas officers to the possibility Gutierrez was there. Prosecutor Jodie Bureta says he's expected to be extradited to stand trial on a murder charge.
He is accused of killing 39-year-old Maribel Gutierrez-Salinas. They lived in Tualatin.
A hunter found her remains a year ago in eastern Marion County. Bureta says they were identified about six months ago, and the husband then became a suspect.
