PORTLAND -- December is the holiday season. The skies are as busy as the terminal at PDX. An estimated 46,000 travelers are expected to come through the airport Friday. An additional 600,000 are expected over the next two weeks.

All travelers should listen to one family's story.
"We were in line at TSA for some time," said Carrie Schellenger. "At one point I'm thinking we're not going to make it."

Schellenger was right. She and her family missed their flight to Montana. That was on Tuesday. They could not re-book until Thursday evening.
"Flights are more full, so if someone misses their flight, it's difficult to re-book on another flight," said Steve Johnson of the Port of Portland.
These are just some of the headaches that come with holiday travel, something the family from Montana knows all too well.
"Passenger rail needs to return to southern Montana," said Schellenger.
