PORTLAND – Students at Reynolds High School have come forward to do what they can to help a montessori school recently hit by vandals.
The vandals destroyed play structures outside the Franciscan Montessori Earth School in Southeast Portland on the second day of school.
Police said they believe gang members may be behind the vandalism, which was estimated at more than $10,000.
"In this play structure, they've actually beaten the metal and destroyed the slide and this entire structure. A number of people rocked this so hard, it's been pulled from its seating, it's no longer moored to the ground," said Michael Winning, with Franciscan Montessori.
A team of construction students from Reynolds volunteered to rebuild the play structures, starting on Tuesday.
