OREGON CITY, Ore. -- The car suspected in a hit-and-run that injured an Oregon City teenager was found Wednesday and the driver was still at large.
On Wednesday morning, police got a report that a man was seen wiping down the steering wheel of a two-tone tan Ford Explorer with no license plates at the Rosewood Terrace Apartments, on 235 Pearl Street.
The Ford Explorer had front end damage and the driver's window is broken. The registered owner of the Explorer claimed to have sold the vehicle on August 1. The driver of the SUV was described as a white man, about 40 years old, with an unshaven face and wearing a baseball cap. A female passenger was described as being Hispanic or Asian in appearance, about 17 years old with long, black hair.
The girl was crossing Brighton Avenue with two friends, when she was struck by an SUV, according to Lt. Bill Kler of the Oregon City Police Dept.
"The victim was thrown, and lying in the street unconscious when the occupants of the SUV stopped, got out of the vehicle, looked at the victim in the roadway, then left in their vehicle without rendering aid or calling for help," Kler said.
The girl was taken by ambulance to a Portland hospital. Her condition was not released.
The driver was described as a white man, about 40 years old, with an unshaven face, wearing a baseball cap. His passenger was described as a Hispanic or Asian woman about 17 years old, with long black hair.
