PORTLAND – Two teenage girls were taken into custody by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission Thursday after they sneaked away from a school field trip and got caught drinking at a bar in Old Town Portland.
The girls, ages 14 and 15 years old, were busted with 22-year-old Parker T. Riley who was sneaking them alcohol at Harlem, a small bar in a closed off stretch of Southwest Ankeny Street, according Christie Scott with the OLCC.
The girls reportedly tried to get into four other bars in Old Town, but when they couldn’t produce identification, they were denied. A bouncer at one of the clubs contacted the OLCC out of concern for the “very-young-looking girls” when he saw them leaving with a man at one of the bars, Scott said.
“These two young girls could have gotten themselves into a lot more trouble if the bouncer hadn’t been proactive in contacting our inspectors to intervene,” said OLCC Public Safety Director John Eckhart.
The girls were cited for minor in possession of alcohol and Riley was cited for furnishing alcohol to minors and released. Harlem will be charged separately.
The girls were released to school authorities at the scene.
